Mheshimiwa watch out

When the teacher walks out of the door, the lazy ones would close their books and return them to the lockers with a consolation that there is still more time to finish up the assignment. The following day just before the class, they realize that the teacher left some assignment. Well, they had three options: abscond the class, ignore the assignment and come up with a vague reason to cover their laziness or do some shoddy job. That is a true reflection of most of our Kenyan politicians. They come up with big visions for their constituents during campaigns. Latter, they relax and wait thinking that they have the whole time in the world to accomplish what they promised. They do this knowing that they have no pressure from the voiceless constit

The Luhya Nation

I would like to first remind you about some words of wisdom from Kuka Juma. He used to say “Ukhuleka yopanga mao nosinjile “this is Tachoni dialect that can be translated to mean a person who sees you as worthless is one who beats up your mother in your presence. In the luhya community, mothers take a very big role in the society and therefore through them, one can earn blessing and curse on the flip side. That is why uncouth utterances from Dwale ‘ Hii pesa  si ya mamako’ cannot be taken lightly. Back to my main point. The saying by  kuka Juma transcends to what we are have been witnessing in the recent past. As a luhya nation, we have had leaders caught up in different scandles. The problem is not scandals as they were meant for our leaders now they are like like an elevated flag that can be seen by everyone. The problem is how w

Exactly 10.01 pm on 1st February 2015, you crept out into the world marking the beginning of your life.Your mum gave me the news immediately and I heard you cry from the background as she called. It was the sweetest sound I had ever heard. How amazing you are!You were born at the foot of the love month. You are definitely a product of love between your mum and I. Right then and there our whole life changed, mine and your mom's, we became parents. Early that morning I was already at the maternity ward to witness your arrival.I spent the morning  staring at your precious face, I could not blink, I didn't want to miss anything. You were amazing, handsome, tiny, helpless, cute, who wouldn't fall in love? I loved you then. We announced your birth to our family and friends, and right there and then, w e became a family of three. I read somewhere that  having a child is like letting your heart walk around outside of your body.  That couldn't be more true.  A few years
