BAN MURATINA BUT NOT BUSAA

Recently, media houses were full of news about illicit brew.Social media was also up with hash tags like

@KTNKenya ~ #SipOfDeath
@NTVKenya ~
#KillerDrink
@K24tv ~
#DrinkofDeath
@xtiandela -
#EffectsOfAlcoholInKenya

All these were passing one message:Stop illicit  brew. Some people  have mentioned of making Illicit brew a national disaster as it had claimed about 65 lives and left many blind in the recent past.However critics like Samwana advocate for other better means of handling the matter other than banning consumption of the local brew. He argues for many guys from Ingo.From statistics,its has been evident that local brew has impacted negatively to people from central region of Kenya. Their counter parts from Western have been using this local brew from time in memorial but have had little or no negative effect.Back in the old days, changaa and busaa were the heart drinks in any function/celebration. During ceremonies like the child naming,circumcision,marriage,funerals,settling of disputes and all other ceremonies from the people of mulembe, there had to be those drinks.It was believed that they were a source of wisdom and a refreshment too.

 Men from Ingo also met during the evenings to tell stories and chat the way forward of the community.In these sittings, busaa  wouldn't miss out.They would come with their own Chisekhe (straws).From the drink,they would  come up with big ideas,strategies and some even close deals on business matters and even marriage.What do you deduce from that? Busaa boost wisdom. Late in the evening when they dispersed back to their hood,you would hear some say Ndasekho esila  ndala ya omukhasi (add me one more cup for the wife).Yes. It indeed had a greater meaning as it was believed to boost their libido.Maybe that’s why they are known to be the best  behind bedroom doors. That's where the difference comes between them and their friends from that other region of the country.When men from Ingo drink,they face their wives but when their other friends from the other part of Kenya do,they face away from their wives.
Did you know that changaa cures typhoid?Muratina and mughashia don’t.Yes I mean real changaa brewed from Ingo with the best ingredients and the best chemist.
Any Kenyan reading this is well aware that most of the deaths caused by illicit brews hail from the Central Province of Kenya. Rarely will you hear of such incidences in Western, Nyanza, Rift Valley provinces for example.In my view,experts of the local brew from Western should be recommended to our friends from central to show them how the chemistry is done.This will ensure continuity of our fore fathers drink,cement the tradition and  boost the efficiency of the engine.This will also reduce the number of deaths and blindness resulting from consumption of the local brew without affecting the lovers of the drink.
